Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. (ABB) was retained by the County of Solano to identify
sources of moisture infiltration and design remedial repairs for the Fairfield Civic
Center Library.
The library is a one and two story concrete framed structure consisting of cast-inplace
and pre-cast structural and wall elements. The existing roof systems consisted
of PVC single-ply roof membrane on low slope roof areas and batten seam copper
roofs on steeper sloped roof areas.
The library underwent extensive roof renovations during 1997-1998, experiencing
minor leaks shortly thereafter. During a major remodeling project in 2003, the
sources of leaks were uncovered throughout the building, on the roofs and in the
walls.
ABB, working with the County and program manager Kitchell, was able to meet
the deadlines for leak detection and remedial design so the library could open on
schedule. We proposed several construction options and prepared construction
drawings for the selected repair option. ABB’s scope of work also included
construction management services.
