Chief Executive Officer, Senior Principal

Mr. Karim Allana is the CEO and Founding Principal of both ABBCM, LLC, and its parent company, Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. He is responsible for the overall planning and administration of both companies.

Under his guidance and supervision, ABB oversees an average of $120 million of remedial construction projects and over $6 billion of new construction projects annually. Charged with governing the company’s overall direction, he oversees its strategic planning and a workforce of approximately 225 employees.

Mr. Allana has 40 years of experience in the construction industry. As a licensed general contractor and a licensed professional engineer, he understands project management, cost management, material procurement, and general best practices from both the design side and construction side. He also has extensive experience in forensic investigations of building failures and has served as an expert witness in nearly 1,000 construction defect cases.

Mr. Allana works with clients in the industrial, multi-family residential, educational, healthcare, local and federal government, and insurance industries. Mr. Allana has overseen over 18,800 architectural and engineering projects for all types of building structures. Notable projects under his purview include, Chevron Park, San Diego Airport, Stanford NanoTech Center, Berkeley Labs, University of Chicago Medical Center, UC Davis Mondavi Center for Performing Arts, Emeryville Public Market, Dallas Museum of Art, to name just a few.

He holds active engineering licenses in multiple states and is a Registered Roof Consultant (RRC) and Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC). He is a member of the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA), the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), San Francisco Bay Area Planning and Urban Research Association (SPUR), the Sealant, Waterproofing and Restoration Institute (SWRI), the Community Associations Institute (CAI), the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC), the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry (AWCI), and the International Code Council (ICC).

During his tenure, ABB has earned several awards, including excellence awards from the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC) and the best firm to work for (Zweig White).

Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Mr. Allana contributes to the broader industry as a frequent presenter at industry events, sharing his insights and fostering a culture of knowledge exchange. He actively participates in seminars on subjects that include the latest developments in building envelope technology, exterior facade systems, building integration for solar photovoltaics, roofing, mold remediation, waterproofing, among others. He also has lectured at UC Berkeley and at dozens of seminars.

He is also proud to support many charitable organizations, including the Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Toys for Tots, San Jose State University, American Heart Association, Positive Coaching Alliance, and more.

Mr. Allana earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Santa Clara University and is a licensed professional engineer in California, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, North Carolina, and Hawaii. He is also a Registered Roof Consultant (RRC) and Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC) through IIBEC, Inc. Prior to founding ABB in 1987, Mr. Allana was a project engineer and superintendent at Turner Construction.
